〈生徒の感想〉

Today, the member of group7 met Chin Bai. She is from China, so we thought about China and the educations in China. At first, we told her our opinions. We explained the details which she didn’t understand. Then, she taught us something in common in both China and Japan. For example, Chinese are good at writing and listening English and they are not good at speaking English like Japanese. So, we talked about English education. Both countries don’t have a lot of chances to talk with foreign people in English, so we should make positive efforts to talk with foreigners like ALT. Finally, we thought that we still have not enough vocabularies to talk with foreigners, and to understand what they want to tell quickly. Today’s work was a good opportunity to learn about our English ability.

We learned about Chinese school’s education. For example, students in China study at school for many hours. Also, they can’t take part in club activities because they have to study more. Therefore, they have no time to talk with their families and can’t have enough sleep. Japanese students also have the same problems because of a lot of assignments. For this reason, we thought the students should help each other.

We got to know about Chinese junior high schools lay emphasis on English education and Chinese students start to learn English from the fist graders by today’s classes. From these, we thought that Japanese English education should be started earlier and chances which Japanese students talk with each other in English should be increased.

Today, we had RRE presentation. First, we made presentations. Japanese students talked about “Moral Education”, “Japanese School Events”, “Club Activities” and “Social Participation”. Also, Ms. Sinnei told us about Chinese school. There are many things which is different from Japan; class, break time, time schedule and so on. I was interested in listening to her presentation. Second, our team talked about bullying. Some students were bullied in club activities or in the classroom and so on. Bullying is happened in Japanese junior high school. However, it happens in China less than Japan, because Chinese students are very busy. Also, there are no class which engage in bullying. As today’s reflection, we sometimes used Japanese language a little. This is our bad point. We have to speak English. Next time, I want to use English all the time in class. Also, we could ask many questions to her. However, we couldn’t answer her all questions, so I think that we have to learn English more and practice speaking English more.

We heard about Fiji ‘s school education by JOE. Fiji has two seasons. Summer and rainy season. They have many vacations because it is too hot to study in school. Students go to school for fourteen weeks after two-week vacation. Fiji is a country which has many strong sports players. Especially rugby is really strong. Before playing raggedy, players dance HAKA. Fiji’s population is 8millions. It is more than Japan. Students in Fiji have 6〜9classes in a day. A class is 45 minutes. Students must study English, basic science, social studies, mathematics and home economists. They can choose 2 subjects from French, Fiji, home technology, and so on. So, they study five subjects. There are a lot of differences between Japan and Fiji, but school ‘s schedule is almost same.

Education in Malawi has a lot of things that are different from education in Japan. So, I was very surprised because all of the subjects are taught in English in Malawi. It’s so amazing. She said it is problem for Japanese that they do not tell their opinions. I think so too. It is a serious problem. We should tell our opinions more. Malawi hasn’t JHS. So, elementary school has 8 grades, high school has 4 grades, and university has 4 grades.

We learned a lot in today’s RRE. We talked about Japanese school’s rules with foreign student. We thought that Japanese school’s rules was very strict at first. For example, girl’s hair rubber must be height of the knee. These rules are good. However, we thought that they are too strict. We told these things, then she said, Indonesia is stricter than Japan. Students must wear uniform from elementary school in Indonesia. Also, they must wear black shoes. We are surprised to hear that. The most startling thing to us is that school starts at 6:30 in Indonesia. It’s too early. Then, school finishes at 15:00. In addition, Indonesian students have a lot of homework. Therefore, they don’t have enough time to sleep. In conclusion, we thought that Japanese school’s rules are not strict. In all except for a discussion, we could know about Indonesian lifestyle. Indonesia has many islands and race. Therefore, there are a lot of traditions. I thought that I want to look up them. Today I was so excited. When I have class like today’s RRE, I want to talk more with foreigners.
