It’s me again! Lavender! Not very much has been happening outside regular classes this week. The students have been working hard as usual, and are beginning to study for the upcoming tests. However, one of our ALTs recently came back from a trip to America and I wanted to talk about her experience. She told me she felt bad about missing classes while she was gone but she went back to attend her mother’s wedding so it couldn’t be helped.
She said she was most surprised about the weather difference. Here, it still feels like the end of summer. In America right now, she said it felt like the middle of fall. It was a bit colder and she wished she had brought a warmer coat. There were lots of leaves on the ground and some trees were bare already! The stores had boxes of pumpkins out ready to buy for Jack o’ Lanterns and many houses were already decorated for Halloween. So exciting! I’ve also seen Halloween decorations here in stores. Since Halloween is a Saturday this year, our ALT told me she will be dressing up and handing out candy on Friday 10/30 instead! If you see her that day, remember to say “Trick or Treat!” She said she bought a lot of American candy to share! I want to try one!
The English speech contest is coming up and she regretted leaving while the students were editing their speeches. However, she was happy to see the final drafts the students had made with the help of our other ALT and English teachers when she got back, and is looking forward to working hard with the students to practice them! Good luck!
