イギリス研修３日目。朝にヨーク市内を散歩した後に朝食をとった。バスでヨーク大学まで移動し、昨日と同じ講義室にてこれまでの活動のふりかえりを行った。続いて、昨日Davies教授から提示された問い「What sort of place is the UK?」について、３つのグループに分かれてポスターを作成した。ポスターのタイトルは以下の通りだ。
「In Order to Keep the City Clean」
「Is There Different Ways of Thinking on the Class?」
「Are British People Really Rude?」
それぞれの発表についてDavies教授から質問とコメントをいただいた。「多文化共生」と「シティズンシップ教育」について、難しい内容ではあったが、英語を使って議論することができた。
〈生徒感想〉
There was nothing taught beforehand, and we were told the theme about workshop on the day. The theme was “What sort of place is Britain?” I honestly told Davis what I think Britain should be and I was praised that the point of view was good. I learned that eyewear is changing only by the living countries and generations being different. Also, I learned that it is important to throw away the subjectivity once, widen the field of vision, and create various people’s way of thinking.
I learned that there are a lot of senses of values, but there should be “Universal Values”, which should be improved. We compared Britain with Japan in some aspects, and my group found that British People are so friendly. Also, I learned that it is important to think critically, and I thought thinking critically makes us easy to find solutions, because “Bad” points have to be improved better. If I have a chance to go abroad, I’d like to compare sense of values at each places, and find some similarities, and think what we can do to improve them.
午後の活動は、まず国立鉄道博物館に行き、世界最大級の規模をほこる鉄道の展示を見学した。次にヨークの象徴であるヨークミンスターを見学した。１４７２年に完成したイギリス最大のゴシック建築と美しいステンドグラスを堪能した。そして、「創造応用」で都市工学分野の研究する生徒が先導して市内フィールドワークを行った。ハリーポッターのロケ地で有名なシャンブルズ通りや城壁を歩き、写真撮影などして資料を集めた。最後にイタリア料理店「La Piazza」で夕食をとり、この日の行程を終えた。
