SGH training at Kyoto University started today. Everyone gathered cheerfully at the high school in the morning and then left for Kyoto. Lectures and activities started in the afternoon. We hope they will learn a lot of things over the next 5 days.
First, the students heard a lecture about the condition of modern business and the difference in the business environment between America and Japan. They also heard about the importance of intercultural communication from a teacher who had gone to Stanford College as a student. It was unusual and fresh content for the students. Then Professor Kobayashi, who has already given us a talk before, explained some concrete ways to make a business plan.Using the content that they were taught by the teachers, the students started to make the business plans. The students worked enthusiastically while talking with graduate students at Kyoto University. The students went to a cafeteria to eat dinner. There was such a great menu. It seems like the competition between the 7 big public universities in Japan is going well, much like the competition between West High School (Nishi) and East High School (Higashi) in Himeji. Even though it was a school cafeteria, it was far from the usual image one has of such a place. It gave a fresh and neat impression and there was many different kinds of food available there.
