Those of us participating in the study trip left Himeji Station at 12:00 on March 20. A lot of people saw us off at the time of our departure. We arrived at Kansai International Airport (KIX) after being delayed by a traffic jam, where we experienced an examination of our baggage and passport inspection before boarding our plane. Our plane left KIX earlier than estimated. When we ordered drinks in English in the plane, many students seemed to realize that the study trip had begun. We spent our time on the plane doing our homework and watching the latest movies. After an almost 9 hour flight, we arrived at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). However, because going through passport control took longer than expected, we missed our flight to New York and instead stayed overnight in San Francisco. It was 15℃ and rainy. We took a bus and arrived at our hotel at 17:00. It was very difficult to prepare new airline tickets for 42 people, and we had to spend a lot of time waiting at the airport. In addition, we had to wait for the bus to the hotel in bad weather, and our plans had been altered greatly. Most students coped with the situation patiently. It had been a long time since we had left Himeji and we wanted to rest. We will spend some time in the hotel tomorrow morning, and then split into two groups (UA242 and UA444) for our flights to Boston from SFO.
