ブレントウッド校訪問団とのお別れ

On the morning of Wednesday, September 16, the time finally came for the group from our Australian sister school, Brentwood Secondary College—comprising 20 students and three accompanying teachers—to depart. The accompanying teachers were Principal John Ballagh, Mr. Peter Kwong, and Ms. Yushan Wang.

Students from our school who had served as host families walked with the group from Ono High School to the area in front of Ono Station to see them off. After exchanging final words, the Brentwood group passed through the ticket gates and entered the station. Our students waved from a spot where the platform was visible, continuing to wave until the train carrying the visitors had disappeared from sight.

They had first met on the evening of September 7 and parted ways on the morning of September 16; surely, no one felt that the ten days had been long. Yet for every host family, these ten days were undoubtedly a deeply fulfilling and meaningful experience.

Next summer, it will be Ono High School’s turn to visit Brentwood Secondary College, located in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

9月16日（水）の朝、オーストラリアの姉妹校であるブレントウッド・セカンダリー・カレッジの一行（生徒20名、引率教員3名）が出発する時を迎えました。引率の先生方は、ジョン・バラー校長先生、ピーター・クウォン先生、ユーシャン・ワン先生でした。

ホストファミリーを務めた本校の生徒たちは、一行と共に小野高校から小野駅前まで歩き、見送りをしました。最後の言葉を交わした後、ブレントウッドの一行は改札を通り、駅構内へと入っていきました。本校の生徒たちは、ホームが見える場所から手を振り続け、訪問者たちを乗せた列車が視界から消えるまで、その手を振るのをやめませんでした。

9月7日の夕方に出会い、9月16日の朝に別れることとなりましたが、この10日間を長いと感じた人は誰一人としていなかったはずです。しかし、どのホストファミリーにとっても、この10日間は間違いなく、深く充実した有意義な体験となりました。

来年の夏には、今度は小野高校が、オーストラリアのメルボルン郊外にあるブレントウッド・セカンダリー・カレッジを訪問する番となります。
